WooCommerce ActiveCampaign Integration: Set Up ActiveCampaign for WooCommerce

WooCommerce ActiveCampaign integration is one of the most sought connections in the WordPress community.

ActiveCampaign is a customer experience automation platform. It can help WooCommerce store owners connect and engage with customers through automated emails and broadcasts.

WooCommerce store owners can automate behind-the-scenes marketing, sales, and customer support processes with ActiveCampaign.

The only problem is that setting up a WooCommerce ActiveCampaign integration in WordPress isn’t easy.

But that's why we are here.

In this post today, we’ll show you how you can use FunnelKit Automations to set up a WooCommerce ActiveCampaign connection in a few simple steps.

How to Setup WooCommerce ActiveCampaign Integration with FunnelKit Automations

With a WooCommerce ActiveCampaign integration in place, you can set up all sorts of marketing and sales campaigns for your online store.

But since that is not easily achieved, we use a third-party tool to bridge the gap.

The easiest way to do this is by using the FunnelKit Automations plugin in WordPress.

FunnelKit Automations lets you connect your WooCommerce store with the ActiveCampain CRM to help manage contacts and customers in a more efficient manner.

More specifically, you can:

  • Add and remove tags
  • Create contacts
  • Add contacts to a list
  • Update contact fields

In addition to this, FunnelKit Automations can also use ActiveCampaign webhooks to perform actions in FunnelKit Automations and share the results with your ActiveCampaign account.

The key benefit of using FunnelKit Automations is that it goes much deeper than ActiveCampaign does with its native integration.

In other words, connecting ActiveCampain to WooCommerce through FunnelKit Automations lets you do robust work.

An alternative to using FunnelKit Automations for a WooCommerce ActiveCampaign integration is Zapier.

There are plenty of Zapier apps out there that let you set up a WooCommerce ActiveCampaign connection.

But today we'll see how FunnelKit Automations goes beyond Zapier.

How to Set Up a WooCommerce ActiveCampaign Integration

Here, we’ll show you how you can set up a WooCommerce ActiveCampaign integration using FunnelKit Automations.

Make sure you have the FunnelKit Automations plugin installed and activated on your WooCommerce store.

Connect ActiveCampaign with FunnelKit Automations

The first thing you need to do is connect your WooCommerce store with ActiveCampaign using FunnelKit Automations.

For this, you’ll need to log into your ActiveCampaign account and locate the ActiveCampaign API URL and key.

For that, on your ActiveCampaign account go to Settings > Developer from the sidebar.

Here you'd find the API URL and key that would help you connect ActiveCampaign with FunnelKit Automations. This helps you establish WooCommerce ActiveCampaign integration.

Copy the codes from the ActiveCampaign account.

Once that’s done, go back into WordPress and navigate to FunnelKit Automations > Automations from the WordPress menu, and click the Connector button from the top of the screen.

Click on Connect under ActiveCampaign.

Click on Connect under ActiveCampaign

Finally, paste the API URL and API key you copied in the Connect with ActiveCampaign fields.

Your WooCommerce ActiveCampaign integration is successful.

Some Must-Have Automated Campaigns for WooCommerce Users

There are some automations that every business should have in place for smoother functioning and a better customer experience. Since you have successfully integrated ActiveCampaign and WooCommerce, you can start using these campaigns.

Some of these automation sequences are:

  • Adding a tag
  • Adding contacts to a particular automation
  • Updating custom fields

and so many more.

Let's see how we can set these up in ActiveCampaign with the help of FunnelKit Automations.

#1: Add a Tag When Someone Buys a Product

You can configure the WooCommerce ActiveCampaign integration to add a tag to your CRM when someone buys a product on your WooCommerce store.

  • Go to FunnelKit Automations > Automations and click the Add New button.
  • Configure the Event to trigger automations:
    • Set the Start When? event setting to WooCommerce from the list.
    • From the events shown, choose the option of Order Created - Per Item.
    • You can also select an order status from Completed, On-hold, and Processing.
    • Click on save after making these changes.
  • Click on the + icon and add a conditional action with the conditions - IF: a customer buys Iron Supplements, THEN: Add Tags (under ActiveCampaign).
  • Add the tag you’d like to have displayed in the CRM e.g. Purchase Order "Iron Supplements for Women".

The automation should look something like this:

Configure the WooCommerce ActiveCampaign integration to add a tag to your CRM when someone buys a product on your WooCommerce store

Now, whenever a customer places an order for that product, your chosen tag will automatically be added in ActiveCampaign.

#2: Add Customers to Automation Based on WooCommerce Activity

FunnelKit Automations helps you establish ActiveCampaign integration with WooCommerce. You can add customers to automation based on their activity on your WooCommerce store.

For example, you can add them to a welcome sequence, abandoned cart, or win-back list.

Follow-up or post-purchase emails keep the engagement with the users going and don't let the relationship chord get cut abruptly.

More importantly, they lay the groundwork for a second sale without much effort on your part.

Let's review some of these automation sequences:

WooCommerce ActiveCampaign Integration: Welcome Sequence

As a customer completes their payment process and the order is placed, an email is sent to welcome them to the clan and explain what they should expect next.

  • Go to FunnelKit Automations > Automations and click the Add New button.
  • Configure the Event as follows:
    • Set the Start When? event setting to WooCommerce from the list.
    • From the events shown, choose the option of Order Created.
  • Add a direct action by clicking on the + icon and select Add Contact to Automation (under ActiveCampaign).
  • Set the Select Automation option to Welcome Email Automation.

The automation should look something like this:

Whenever a customer places an order, they’ll be sent welcome sequence emails.

FunnelKit Automations's Abandoned Cart Automation Campaign

Reaching out to the customers who didn't complete their purchase helps recover carts and increase the overall revenue of the store.

  • Go to FunnelKit Automations > Automations and click the Add New button.
  • Configure the Event as follows:
    • Set the Start When? event setting to WooCommerce from the list.
    • From the events shown, choose the option of Cart Abandoned.
  • Add a direct action by clicking on the + icon and select Add Contact to Automation (under ActiveCampaign).
  • Set the Select Automation option to Abandoned Cart Sequence.

The automation should look something like this:

Now, whenever a customer abandons their shopping cart, abandoned cart automation under WooCommerce will be triggered in ActiveCampaign.

WooCommerce ActiveCampaign Integration: Win-Back List

Let’s say you want to create a list of customers in ActiveCampaign that haven’t placed an order in 30 to 45 days.

  • Go to FunnelKit Automations > Automations and click the Add New button.
  • Configure the Event as follows:
    • Set the Start When? event setting to WooCommerce from the list.
    • From the events shown, choose the option of Customer Win Back.
  • Add a direct action by clicking on the + icon and select Add Contact to List (under ActiveCampaign).
  • Set the Select List option to Lost Customers.

The automation should look something like this:

If a customer doesn’t place an order in 30 to 45 days, they’ll be added to the Lost Customers list in ActiveCampaign.

Then they'd be sent emails from the win-back campaign.

This is how you can unleash the power of the WooCommerce ActiveCampaign connection.

#3: Update a Custom Field in ActiveCampaign Based on WooCommerce Activity

FunnelKit Automations lets you update a custom field in your ActiveCampaign CRM based on a customer’s activity in WooCommerce.

Let’s say we want to update a custom field in ActiveCampaign for customers that leave a review.

  • Go to FunnelKit Automations > Automations and click the Add New button.
  • Configure the Event as follows:
    • Set the Start When? event setting to WooCommerce from the list.
    • From the events shown, choose the option of New Review.
  • Add a direct action by clicking on the + icon and select Update Fields (under ActiveCampaign).
  • Set the Select Custom Fields option to Review and set the next dropdown to the value you’d like to update it with. You can also use merge tags like {{review_content}}.

The automation should look something like this:

This way, whenever a customer leaves a review in WooCommerce, you can store it in ActiveCampaign. You can even try more of such automations with WooCommerce ActiveCampaign integration in FunnelKit Automations.

There are many other events for which you can design automation using FunnelKit Automations.
